SafeD Focus of the Week Campaign

The Safety Focus is a weekly internal safety communication that reaches 100,000 Cast Members worldwide throughout the Disney Parks and Resorts. The goal of these weekly communications is to get cast members in every area of the parks to think about how they can be safe at both work and at home.

Research
My role was to consult with safety experts and research important safety topics to address. This would include, ergonomics, food safety, attraction safety, fitness, etc.

Creative Direction
After writing the content filled with tips for both work and at home, I would photograph Cast Members throughout the Disney Parks who displayed good safety practices and then edit the photos for publication. The tone of these materials needed to be informative and casual so that cast members would be interested in reading each topic before their shifts for the week. By going into different areas of the park, people could see how various safety practices were applied consistently throughout the parks.

Distribution
These communication materials were printed in the parks backstage and also digitally on the Disney Intranet. All materials were translated into Spanish, French, Haitian-Creole, and Vietnamese.

Driving Awareness

The Disney Safety Department requested this marketing project after noticing Cast Members were overlooking safety policies while driving golf carts around Disney property. The goal of this infographic was to remind people of the steps that needed to be followed while operating these vehicles. After consulting with safety experts, I was able to organize all the steps into three categories – Before, During, and After. I photographed Cast Members at several different resorts practicing the proper steps and designed a poster that was displayed throughout the Disney Property.

Storage Clearance Requirements

Originally a flowchart with Yes and No questions, the storage clearance requirements infographic for backstage areas of the parks needed a redesign to avoid confusion.  By adding graphics and taking photos of storage areas at the parks, I was able to organize the information better so that people would follow these safety standards.

Disney Wild About Safety

Disney Wild About Safety is a Parks and Resorts program that promotes safety for kids and families. I was involved with designing collateral for events for Cast Members. By educating Cast Members about this program, it encouraged safety to be talked about in a fun way when assisting young guests in the parks.
